Prospect Park Murders

No one was murdered in Prospect Park. In 1977, a Redlands High School student was raped and murdered in the orange groves while walking home from school. I grew up in Redlands and did live there at the time of the murder, but was too young to remember it happening. The girl who was murdered was the older cousin of one of my best friends. She was killed cutting through the orange groves along Grove Street in Redlands, next to Sylvan Park - which is across town from Prospect Park. A recently paroled felon was arrested 2 weeks after the murder and found guilty of the crime; he is still in prison today. I don't know of any "hauntings" stemming from her murder, but I mention this because I've noticed that her murder seems to be incorporated into many Redlands "ghost stories" that are posted online, particularly regarding Prospect Park. While Prospect Park is certainly creepy at night, no murders have taken place there.

I was born August 14 1952 at St Bernardines My parents brought me home from the hospital on the 19th. They were best friends with the Knodels and were devastated when they heard about Kathryn. The Knodels and my parents were lifelong friends. Mr. Knodel taught me all about fishing. I never knew about Kathryn until my Mother told me years later.

this is to let anyone who remembers paula hernandez and her murder and would like to participate in having a word on keeping this monster in jail. Please write a letter to the prison 19025 willeys well road blythe ca.92226 you don't know how much this will help just state how you feel on weather you think he should stay in prison and how this makes you feel to let a murderer out on the public streets free to do this again.

The groves where paula hernandez was murdered was not near, in or around Silvin Park or any park for that matter. It happened in the orange groves on grove street. Near to colton ave. I used to occasionally walk part way home from school with paula. We walked to the railroad tracks, she'd take a right and walked up towards judson along the railroad tracks and I continued to walk through the groves to colton ave. I wasn't in school that day and I have always wondered if we together could have fought off her murderer . could i have helped her or would both of us been killed. I have always had guilt and will forever for not being there tocpossibly helped her. She was always a happy girl, smiled all the time and extremely respectful of her parents rules.

She was always a very polite, respectful and a friendly girl. Her murder still haunts me today. I was a senior at RHS and lived 2nd house around the corner where colton ave. & Grove meet. I will never forget her smile. I have always &will continue to pray for her family's loss!!

On behalf of our family, we appreciate that. This happened 10 years before I was born, but my Mother was very close with her and her sisters (Paula was my Aunt). You shouldn't carry that burden with you, it's not your fault.

Her name was Paula Hernandez. She was my Aunt. John Zenc is the piece of shit that murdered her.

The “stage” in Prospect Park was not constructed until 1971 as part of Mr. Cabillela s extension of the Redlands college theater program. No stage to place the little girl under
