Bigfoot in the Inland Empire and Fontana

Fontana (San Bernardino County), California Big Foot Rampages through old Fontana Drag Strip area A short-order cook who lived in the Fontana area since the 1940s, said over the years friends of his shared stories about the "Speedway Monster." He couldn't elaborate but said "some old-timers" (I'm In there somewhere) told him that back in 1951-52, a crowd of fans at the Fontana Speedway saw, at a distance, what seemed to be a hairy, two-legged giant criss-cross an open field. The criss-crossing creature appeared in the same area "quite a few times" in the early 1950s the 60's 70's and even the 80's. Despite repeated sightings of the Speedway Monster during all of these decades, no one apparently ever got close enough to identify it clearly. In 1991, on several successive nights the John Davis family heard "something heavy on two legs" run across their chicken yard. "The footfalls were so heavy-sounding the house shook," said Mrs. Davis. Mr. Davis found several of his chickens completely flattened one morning, " if something played hopscotch on those birds." The Davis' youngest son glimpsed what he described as a "real big, gray-colored ape." A section of fencing was pulled up and pet dogs howled and cowered indoors at night. The Davis home is the home you see as you travel north on Summit Ave and is located at the base of the foothills of Lytle Creek. Also in 1992, on Foothill and areas to the east, several reports came in from a couple of families traveling on Foothill about a family of Big Foots crossing over the tracks that crossed over Foothill down where Ace Hardware is located. But once the drag strip was closed after a particular nasty accident which resulted in the beheading of the driver involved, reports of Bigfoot activity in Fontana also stopped But, as it turns out, there are plenty of other Bigfoot sightings in Southern California. In fact, according to Bobbie Short, webmaster of the Bigfoot site, the first ever sightings of Sasquatch were here. "Sasquatches have been reported in remote locations of Southern California since the early 1700s," Short says. "The mission padres wrote about them." One account appeared in 1876 in a San Diego newspaper. Turner Helm's partner said the two were prospecting in different areas of Warner's Ranch when Helm saw a man covered with thick black hair, like that of a bear, but with a man's face. "He was a man of about medium size," Helms' partner said, "and had rather fine features -- not at all like those of an Indian but more like an American or Spaniard. "Mr. Helm spoke to the singular creature, first in English and then Spanish and then in Indian but the man remained silent. Mr. Helm called to me, but the wind was blowing so hard that I could not hear him. The wild man then turned and went over the hill and was soon out of sight." In 1993, a camper in Barton Flats reported being awakened in the middle of the night by footsteps outside the van he was sleeping in. Suddenly the van began rocking violently. The camper yelled and the rocking stopped. When he shined his flashlight out the van window, he says he saw a figure covered with hair, walking upright like a man as it headed into the forest. Hi. There is some pretty interesting facts on this site and I am enjoying the duscussions. I have never seen one of these Bigsfoot creatures, but my dad did. We were boating in the morning at a place called Lake Puddingstone in 1974 and went up to what you are naming as the Lie Tell Yee canyon. I think it is really Lytle Creek canyon over be Devore but maybe that comes from a Chinese name. There was lots of them working on railroads and stuff. Well so I stayed in the back of the wagon and napped when dad went hunting. He came back hours later and told me he had seen a forest ape is what he called them. Way back to the west of what he called the middle draw.
We still keep a chunk of marble like stone with blue waves in it that comes there so I know that it is there to.

Mister Hamilton why have you not told us the rest of it. I lived down outside oh the town of Indio and I know about that medical station which they built as fast as you could ever dream. And later on I can tell you that a ton of heavy shipping crates was taken out and trucked over to the new Betsy Ford Eisenhower hospi rol. How? Because it was my friend Pepe Lepe who got the job!

Also Here is something for you. You had talked about some secret scientist government man called Gino who went missing all a sudden. I took from your story that this might be the GNO general nupreen operator,?

I sure would like to see more and more from the mr. Minden to. We hope you are safe as and ok

I recently stumbled upon this thread. There is some incredible information and effort here. I cannot help but notice that it has been just over a year since there have been any updates. Please let us know what is happening and if there is any room for some fresh help. I am a serious professional with over 20 years' investigative experience and a desire to see this case to fruition.

Lie tell yee....think about that for a minute get it!!! It is another way of saying Ly tl lee creek....yeah. I'm a believer too, but that is what it means!!

Thanks for your insight! I get it now and understand much better after your explanation! I am not familiar with the region and thought the pronunciation was "Little" creek. So it is clear now that whoever wrote the note (probably Stan Johnson) was just trying to indicate "Lytle" Creek! I noticed that Stan often used other odd ways to spell things in his notes, so this makes sense to me and I am certain your are correct.

I've been there before as I lived on the LA area, grew up actually, and I always had an un easy experience there.

We took a large group to Big Bear this past week end and on the way back everybody was asleep accept me and the driver. I saw two side by side sloppy built tent like structures...the odd thing to me was we had just come out of Big Bear and were at San Bernardino mountains. Really houses or buildings just forest terrain...

400am I was outside walking my dogs when something ran toward us from our upper lot. I heard it first then saw a dark figure leap across our backyard it was not a dog because it was larger and it had black hair. I do not know what I saw.

In the late 80's early 90's i had my first encounter while i was fishing during the day. we would drive over to the old green river golf club to fish the ponds on the course. From a distance(100yards) i noticed a tall black man behind a large tree leaning from left to right. I wispered to get my buddys attention, he was fishing another little pond, maybe 50 yards away across the fairway.. i wisstled lightly and pointed twords the figure. both of us stood and watched it. its atention wasnt on us at that moment. 5 seconds later It took a leap and then sprinted along the fence line seperating course and santa ana river bottom. Had i had a cell phone backthen I woukd have had atleast 30 seconds of film of the figure, but in 1990 It wasnt possible yet(no cell phones then). It was atleast 9 feet tall and short dark hair. Ran on two feet and the distance it covered while running was unlike anything i ever witnessed, no human could be that fast.. It was the wildest encounter ive had at that time.. untill a few years ago when the bog foot craze began we spoke of the encounter for the first time..

My second encounter with a big foot was in 1996 as i was riding horse back in the Norco Riverbottom. It was a sunday in January the start of 96.. Daylight grew grim but it was still visible. We would enter the riverbottom by bluff and vine st of the bluffs, ride twords the river and continue threw the maize of trails.. on our way out of the riverbottom trails there was a fire road that lead back to Bluff st.. My horse began to spook and would not continue. I sat and tried yo calm him as i did nor understand what he saw.. I would try to continue my hourse refused, ass he became more unstill.. my horse has never acted like this.. I was alarmed, i got of the horse , held his rain abd walked on foot. I had my small 38special in my sattle back i only grabbed it because i knew we werent alone.. My horse would not continue.. We stood maibe 30seconds and the a grunt from the animal maid my hair stand up on my intire body, i now relized im not alone.. It ran arcoss the fire road maibe 50 yards ahead with a wildpig in its arms. The big foot needed 3 steps to cover the road. It shook the ground, i felt it and it still haunts me to this day.. The big foots were not the same this one had BC lots of bamboo shavings like he was hunting, and wasnt as dark as the other.. Now my horse wanted to continue so i gpt back on the sattle with gun in hand and we causiously walked out of the riverbottom. Ive seen groups of wild bore, ive encounterd homeless people, ive seen moutain lions or bobcats with young.. i consider myself a semi pro hunter or tracker.. im a realist and dont need attention from the comunity, but i know what i saw that day.. Ive hurd of other encounters as recent as 2014.
To this day i continue to persue the beast in hopes of video or photo proof.. I place trail cams in hidden places and get them after a few weeks to see what came along.. Never was able to get proof.. With the growing number of pigs and deer and mountain lions, cayotes, ive come to the conclusion they have moved on to less human population.. Thanks for lisening
