The Ace of Spades: AKA Arrowhead
Submitted by Ghostpainter on Tue, 04/24/2007 - 5:01pm
The Mormons called it 'The Ace Of Spades'
We know it by another name...."Arrowhead"
The well known landmark the Mormons called "The Ace of Spades" and better known today as the Arrowhead, was visible long ago, even to the first Spanish Missionaries, who believed it was a sign from God.....The Cahuilla's Indians were well aware of the natural sign on the lower slops of the Foothills just to the north of the current city of San Bernardino, because they used the springs located at the base of the 'Arrowhead ' to heal wounds and just sit in it....Lets face it, they used the Springs as a spa.....They called the place "Arrowhead"....the name we use today to name the mark, the springs, and a bottled Water Company.
Measuring 1,375 feet long and 449 feet wide, the arrowhead is visible from as far away as 30 miles on a clear day.....Although it was commonly believed at one time that the Indians had made the arrowhead to mark the location of the hot springs, geologists now say that it is a natural phenomenon, a natural uplifting of the soil.
