The first annual Disco in the Desert, Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday November 28th 7pm till 1am at the beautiful J.W. Marriott Hotel in Palm Desert.

I was happy to find this guy still around and doing what he has been doing for the past 21 years. When I was down in the Palm Springs court complex I would make it a point to pay a visit to this young mans display. I was never disappointed by his efforts that he started when he was 13 years old. He started off with a few hundred lights on a few trees and by the time I last saw his place in December 1998, it had now grown to over 2 million lights on a 4 acre property.

Mexican food & Dancing go well together at this beautiful Downtown Palm Springs Adobe style Restaurant. Las Casuelas Terraza celebrated 20 years of successful operations this past February. Many of the opening day employee's are still working for the same owners, and none of them have any regrets. In fact, there are four Degado family restaurants on the lower desert, all of them serving time honored Mexican cuisine made in the traditional Mexican style, with original recipes borrowed from both families of the owners and there grandmothers.

Well, not quite, but they are the Follies and they are based on the Follies Bergere' of Paris France Fame, but that's where the similarity ends....This Follies has one dancer who is 83 years old, and her sister who is still dancing, is 84.

Sony Bono was born in Detroit, Michigan, and began his music career working for the legendary record producer Phil Spector in the early 1960s as a promotion man, percussionist and gofer.....One of his earliest songwriting efforts was "Needles and Pins." Later, with his Main Squeeze X wife Cher, They preformed as Sonny and Cher....Bono wrote, arranged, and produced a number of hit records with singles like "I Got You Babe" and "The Beat Goes On."....Sonny and Cher starred in a popular television variety show, The Sonny and Cher Show, which ran on CBS from 1971 to 1977, where Cher developed her wit and charm and dangerous tongue....Cher received more attention as the musical talent while Sony played the Clown and Baffon.....They divorced in 1975 but continued to do the show for another two seasons until canceled by CBS.....After the series ended, Sony and Cher still got together for the occasional TV show or special appearance on programs like Johnny Carson and later Jay Leno.

The Agua Caliente band of Cahuilla Indians is composed of several small groups of Indians who were living in the modern day Palm Springs area when the Agua Caliente Reservation was established by the United States Government in 1896......The reservation occupies 32,000 acres, of which 6,700 acres lie within the city limits, making the Agua Caliente band the city's largest landowner and they have the final decision of what type or style of building or company a company can build within the city....The reservation land was originally composed of alternating squares of land laid out across the desert in a checkerboard pattern.....The alternating, non-reservation squares, were provided by the United States Government to the Southern Pacific Railroad as an incentive to bring rail lines through the open desert.....It would appear that the Indians at first lost the desert to the white man....But as the reader will realize, the Cahuilla's have gained far more than they ever lost because this small group of Indians dictate what happens on the entire valley floor.
