Cucamonga in myth and media









In the movie Fletch Lives, Fletch , played by actor Chevy Chase, claims to a Ku Klux Klan leader that he is from the "Cucamonga Klan" from California.....Sorry folks, while we might have some weird people walking about I don't recall ever seeing any KKK.

In the movie Next Friday the setting is, and was partly filmed in Rancho Cucamonga.....Neighbors of the home where the movie was being shot, were so nervious about some of the people who were dressed like gang members, that they called the local PD and complained and the shooting was shut down.

A two part episode of Combat was filmed at the Virginia Dare Winery....In one scene, as the Serge is driving through the gate and into freedom from the German Held area, the shot switches to the gate heading towards Foothill, just in time for a Grey Hound Bus to pass by....CUT.

An ABC television movie comedy Camp Cucamonga (1990), presumably takes place in a summer camp in Rancho Cucamonga's forested area in the San Bernardino National Forest.....Sorry folks but the northern City limits while very high in elevation in relation to the rest of the valley, there is no forest growing....it is all sage and brush and is the Cucamonga Wilderness Area, a National Nature Preserve.and Mt Cucamonga rises some 9,000 feet above the city....I know, I live here.

A fictional Johnny Carson character named Floyd R. Turbo said he was from Cucamonga, California.....Funny the Torbo family lives up on Hillside....He must just have pulled out the phone book and picked a name.

"Pride of Cucamonga", a wine produced by the Joseph Filippi Winery in Rancho Cucamonga, was used as the title of a song by the Grateful Dead.....It is still used....to drink...it is very soothing to the soul.

The city hosts the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League.....First bought by the Padres of San Diego, the team is part of the Angels Baseball team....They started off with 2500 seats, the added 2,000 more and finally another 2,000 seats added a few years ago....They are two very nice Restaurants right on the field.....And Jack Benny's statue stands out on Rochester Ave....The main street that the stadium is located on.

Comedian Jamie Kennedy performed a skit for his hidden camera show The Jamie Kennedy Experiment in which he pranked everyone at the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes Stadium into singing multiple verses of the national anthem.....Then he was almost thrown out.....People don't like that sort of thing around here.

Rancho Cucamonga was in a comedic skit on an episode of MADtv....Actually Jack Benny Made Cucamonga Famous with his skit about the train leaving for "Next stop, is Azusa and Cuuuucaaaaammmmonnnngaaaaa".

Musician Frank Zappa built his famous Studio Z recording studio in Cucamonga and made the city his part-time residence for much of the 60's and 70's.....Rumor has it that it was actually down in Guasti, but don't tell no one.
Pitfall Harry (voiced by Bruce Campbell) claimed to be from Cucamonga, California in Pitfall 3-D: Beyond the Jungle for the PlayStation.....Funny we don't have any jungles here.

Rapper Juelz Santana has a line in his song, I Am Crack from his 2005 album What the Game's Been Missing! that goes: "I'll jam, move and slump 'ya. Leave 'ya body in Rancho Cucamonga with ants movin' unda."...Yeah well the same to ya fella.

Cucamonga is part of the Jan and Dean song titled, Anaheim, Azusa & Cucamonga Sewing Circle, Book Review and Timing Association which was released as Liberty 55724 in 1964 and eventually reached #77 on the Billboard Chart......The A-side of the single, Ride the Wild Surf reached Billboard's #16. Both songs were arranged and produced by Jan Berry.
World-renowned woodworker, Sam Maloof, lives in Alta Loma. His work is featured in museums around the United States, including the Smithsonian Institution.....His home is a State of California historical landmark.....During the construction of the 210 freeway, Maloof's home was moved from the 210 freeway corridor to the top of Carnelian street, where the home is now a museum.
Nehemiah Clark from Real World was also born and raised here.....He should stayed in Florida

Michael Alan Johnson American child actor from Disney Channel's Mike's Super Short Show is from here.....Where is he now?

Craig Traylor the actor whom played Stevie on Malcolm in the Middle currently lives in Rancho Cucamonga....Welcome to Cucamonga, hope you enjoy your stay.

National Video Gaming Champion, Ottis Pittman, calls Cucamonga home.....He holds the world record score on The House of the Dead according to Twin Galaxies and won a national tournament at GameWorks in Ontario claiming the $5,000 prize on October, 30th 1997.....He also placed first in Konami's Dance Dance Revolution USA Internet Ranking in 2001.....Yeah, well I do real good at Solitaire and Mahjong.

Also, there is a new show called " Carpet brothers". its a HBO thing.. will ferrell , tim meadows, david spade.. are all carpet salesmen trying to keep the cucamongian community carpeted with quality carpet.. really funny.

Rancho Cucamonga in the movies

Funny about the movie Next Friday.. Most of the "Rancho Cucamonga" scenes were shot on Myrtle Avenu in Monrovia Califorina (where I grew up).. Now that I live in Rancho it was funny seeing both cities in the movie..
